Is your security in wealth and fame
in Wall Street's stocks and bonds?
Are you waiting for the lottery
or the fairy . . . that waves the wand?
Is your security safe in your bank
possessions . . . homes . . . and cars?
Things you're holding . . . tightly
Perhaps . . . a lucky star?
Is your security . . . your good looks
and the best of clothes to wear?
Possibly precious gems and jewels
always getting . . . your fair share?
Worldly goods . . . I have . . . but little
my treasures are in Heaven there.
It's not a matter . . . If I have them
it only matters . . . where.
This poem was written by a dear friend of mine who passed away about a year and a half after she wrote this. Her faith, knowledge of the scriptures and graciousness were very inspiring.
Patti noted this passage on her poem:
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1
