You and Me

Heartspun memories of you
Piano keys and scraped up knees
Big blue eyes and fresh mud pies
Every day was new.

Liquid mercury in my hand
Play house, dolls and special dishes
Summer days and Christmas wishes
Memories like drifting sand.

Silver streams rushing by
Mama's hands and cookie pans
Church on Sunday, school on Monday
I remember you and I.

Cotton candy colored days
Big girl dreams and fast machines
Heart awaking then it's breaking
Life is full of grays.

Kaleidoscope of pain and hope
Airplane flights and marriage rites
Motherhood and Widowhood
We cope.

Weaving strands of you's and me's
Look in my eyes and you will see
Adventures yet to be
Still making memories.
