Words
"May the words of my mouth,
and the meditation of my
heart be pleasing in your
sight, O Lord, my Rock and
my Redeemer." - Psalm 19:14

The words we speak are "missiles",
That we launch into the air,
They are armed with "barbs" and "thistles"
Or are armed with love and care.
![](hammack4/wordsthathealfloat.gif)
A word that's said in anger,
From a bitter tongue my fall,
Makes a friend into a stranger,
And these words we can't recall.
![](hammack4/wordsthathealfloat.gif)
A word so "hastily" uttered,
With it's venom can destroy,
Renders life so weak and "cluttered",
Robs us of it's deepest joy.
![](hammack4/wordsthathealfloat.gif)
A word so "aptly" spoken,
Can bring peace within the storm,
It can mend a heart that's broken,
It can bless and "strangely" warm.
![](hammack4/wordsthathealfloat.gif)
A word so "fitly" given,
Flowing from a heart of love,
Can lift one's eyes to heaven,
Lend a gentle, needed shove.
![](hammack4/wordsthathealfloat.gif)
So choose wise and well the words you speak,
They have the power to "maim" or "kill",
Lift up the struggling and the weak,
By words of kindness; Words that heal.
