ODE TO THE CAROLS

"What child is this?" the song does pose,
Then answers, "This is Christ the King".
On high the heavenly anthems rose,
"HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING."

This child was prophesied of old,
He would deliver us from sin,
His birth, the very place foretold,
"OH LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM."

This child in manger bed of hay,
Has surely deigned with men to dwell.
And each believer sings today,
"OH COME, OH COME, EMMANUEL."

This child whose blessed Holy birth,
Brought God to man so very near.
Angels announced to men on earth,
"IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR."

This child, by grace, dispels all doom,
To every heart God's love unfurled.
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And sing, "JOY TO THE WORLD."

This child brings healing in His wings,
In every heart delights to rule.
From every tongue His praises sing,
"OH COME ALL YE FAITHFUL."

This child has come to free from sin,
Deliver all from it's "dread blight",
Bring peace on earth, good will to men,
Rejoice again, "O SILENT NIGHT."

This child who came so long ago,
"These old familiar carols say".
Has come to me for I , too, know,
"I HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY."
