Goodnight Mr. Blue

I always bid "goodnight" to him
As some silly people do
He was just a little fish
And I called him Mr. Blue.

Looking in and saying "hi"
Brought a wiggle and a flip
He seemed so glad to see me
As I watched him take a dip.

So easily we get attached
To any "critter" in our lives
I got so used to him being there
To watch him jump and jive.

A brilliant, shimmering royal blue
Only nature could provide
Our pretty little Mr. Blue
I'm sad that he has died.

This day when evening comes
And my eyes take in the view
I'll look inside my heart and say
Good Night Mr. Blue.
