I learn this more every day. Let me ask you a question: Do you believe that the Bible is God's instruction book for Christian living? Yes? I do - I believe the Bible to be 100% inspired by God, completely true - otherwise, it's up to us to decide what is true and what isn't, and we simply aren't capable of that...period. Scripture tells us to stop, look, and listen for the Lord in our daily walk.
As the sun rises in the east, or sets in the west, look for the finger of God as He spreads the colors across the sky.
As you hold a newborn baby, listen to the breath of life that He blew into those tiny lungs. Feel His peace as the child holds onto your finger.....and look into the very eyes of Christ as you gaze deep into the child's loving eyes!
I've even heard that some pets display the attributes of God in the way that they love you....I know we have a Black Labrador that wants to do ANYTHING for or with you. He loves us even when we mess up, and just wants to spend time with us - to be involved in our lives.
Sit outside sometime, away from the city, away from traffic and other people. Spend some time in prayer asking God to reveal himself to you, and then just enjoy a time of fellowship with Him. Psalm 46:10 says "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Listen to nature, look at the beauty He has created all around you.
And last? Love like He loves you. Impossible? In and of yourself, yes it is. Christ told us in Luke 10:27 "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, `Love your neighbor as yourself.' " To do this, you must let the love of Christ fill you, and share it with those around you...let them see Jesus in you.
Simple things...if you try, and look at things and people as God does, you can see His hand in everything around you. And that's when you'll begin to slow down, and enjoy the simple things of life....and find a deeper level of peace than you ever knew existed.....the "peace that passes all understanding."
Have a slow, peaceful day!
