Blessed Are We

Blessed are we
For parents like these.
Two sturdy oaks
Standing together
So many life's storms
They have weathered.

Hand in hand
They've led us
Through
Showers and sorrows
To help us face
All of our tomorrows.

Blessed are we,
Oh God.
We thank Thee
For giving us such
Parents as these.
Side by side
We've
Seen them struggle
Shield us from
Harm and trouble.

Wet with sweat,
Weary from work.
Work
They never shirked.
Their poor, loving brows
Wrinkled with worry
Praying to save us
Some
Burden to carry.

A
Pair of gray
And a pair of blue
Twinkling,
Shining
Eyes
Saying,
"We love you."

Two great hearts
Sometimes troubled
Always
Knowing
With
Tender love flowing,
Ever
Showing concern
For what we'd learn
And
What we'd do.

Dear Lord,
For these parents
Again,
We thank you.

We
Their children
Have carried
Our own loads.
We
Have all had to walk
Down
Our own roads.

Our Burdens have been
Lighter
To bear
Because of their
Undying
Love and care.

Oh,
We do owe
To
These two this day
More
Than a mere
Few words can say.

For
Every trial we've
Ever faced
On
Each sweet brow
A line is traced.

Oh, yes,
Dear, Lord,
Blessed are we
To
Have and shared
Such
Treasures as these.
